The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) is the implementing body of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), with the mandate to achieve a world free of chemical weapons and to ensure that chemistry is used only for peaceful purposes. The OPCW oversees the verified destruction of declared chemical weapons stockpiles, monitors the chemical industry to prevent rearmament, and provides assistance and protection to States Parties against chemical threats. It also promotes international cooperation in the peaceful uses of chemistry, ensuring the benefits of science are shared globally.
In this age of development, the nuclear, chemical and cyber-technologic weapons' usage opportunities are increasing unstoppable especially developed countries and the countries which are in the face of a conflict. Within the scope of this issue, delegates will focus on strengthening international cooperation in case of conflicts in specific areas and addressing the critical issue of preventing the re-emergence of chemical weapons.
